Thelma Jean (McCollow) Kalita

       It is with deepest sorrow we announce the  passing of Thelma Kalita on October 31, 2022 in her 90th year.  
Thelma was born  January 09, 1933 in Tillsonburg. Predeceased by her husband  Edward [2019]. Dearly loved mother of Gary and Linda Kalita,  Carolyn and David Arn, Diane Kalita, Joanne and John Johnston,  Christine and Denis Hardy, John and Celedonia Kalita, Peter and  Willma Kalita, Paul and Jakki Kalita, Mary and Peter Jocius, David and Sheila Kalita. Thelma was blessed with many  grandchildren and great grandchildren. Thelma is survived by her  sister-in-law Jannette Huszczo and Marian McCollow as well as  numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by grandsons Cole Kalita , Christopher Graham and great granddaughter Adalynn Hardy.  Thelma enjoyed being entertained by her children , grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was active in everyday farming activities.  She could always make the perfect soggy tomato sandwich,  helping with the tobacco harvest and  following the grain wheels to town. Mom was the Matriarch of our family.Also a Legion member for many years; darts, ceramics, dancing and cards. Reunions and special  occasions such as Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving were large family gatherings .Casinos awaited her arrival monthly where luck was usually on her side. Yearly trips to travel across Canada were enjoyed. Mom  always had a drink and a snack for whoever came through the farmhouse door.  Visitation will be held on Thursday November 3, from 5-8  pm. at Arn Funeral Home 193 Shackleton St Dutton [519-762-2416].  A Celebration  of Life will be held at  St Mary's Catholic  Church 132 Main St  West Lorne on Friday November 4, 2022 at 11:00 am. Interment in St Mary's Cemetery. Donations to The West Elgin Auxiliary Welfare or a Hospital of choice greatly appreciated.
