Peacefully as LHSC Victoria on March 11, 2026, Sylvia Margaret Fischer (Perger) of West Lorne passed away at the age of 87 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Fischer (2015) and loving sister of the late Kenneth Perger (2006), caring mother of Dennis (Sandra) of Rodney, Pam Wardell (late Terry) of Rodney and Linda of West Lorne. Dearly loved and cherished grandma of Sarah (Alistair), Jacob (Jodie), Matthew (Fran), Michael and Michelle. Proud great grandma of Jack and Benjamin. Survived by sister-in-law Pat, niece Amanda and brother Ronnie.
Alongside Joe, Sylvia grew tobacco on their farm in West Elgin for decades while also working as secretary at Aldborough Public School for 21 years. Sylvia was also a dedicated member of the Elgin International Club, either out on the dance floor enjoying a polka or bustling around the kitchen helping to prepare meals for numerous events.
She will be sadly missed by everyone. Sincere thanks to Dr. Karin Hahn, Dr. Michael Locke and to the doctors and nursing staff of the Palliative Care Unit at LHSC Victoria.
Visitation will be held at Arn Funeral Home Rodney, 212 Furnival Rd, on Saturday March 21 from !0:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. A light luncheon will follow at the St Mary's Parish Hall in West Lorne.
Memorial donations may be made to West Elgin Daffodil Auxiliary Cancer and the Palliative Care Unit Victoria Hospital.
