January 30th, Sophia Adeline Gowan (Moore), master of wit and pianist extraordinaire, passed away in her 83rd year. Soph was born on April 25, 1940 and on June 27, 1959, she tied the knot with her beloved husband Melvin Gowan. For those 63 years, she was loved and cherished by Mel. She loved and was loved in return by her sons Craig (Kathy), Russ (Cindy) and Ray (Deb). She will be missed by her eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
For those that knew Soph well, they know that music was a major part of her life and she passed that gift onto her sons and grandchildren. She loved dancing with her husband and rarely passed a piano without playing a couple of keys. Soph, like Mel, was an active community member. She would help organize and host community events as well as play the organ or piano for gatherings. However, most days at 10:00am you would find her chatting with friends and drinking coffee at Tall Tales Cafe.
Even though rooms are a little bit quieter without her humour and music, friends and family are forever grateful to love and have been loved by her.
