Ruth passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday October 22, 2025. Predeceased by her mother Lois Stocking, and her father Kenneth Stocking, her brother James E Stocking, infant son Joseph, son Jonathan, and her granddaughter Mekena. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dougal, son Dougal (Lisa), son Jeffrey (Karen), brother Mark (Sharon), brother Gerald (Alice), half brother Gary (Kim), half sister Sue (Brad), half sister Catherine (Ken), and grandchildren Dougal, Hayden, Ella, Mackenzie, Avery, Camden, Benjamin, and Ronin.
Ruth’s greatest passions were her children and grandchildren, who she adored. Ruth always had a song in her heart. Music enthralled her and she was an organist in numerous churches within the community. She was an avid member of the Sweet Adeline’s in Chatham, London, and Director of Grand Harmony in Kitchener. Ruth was very active in the local community activities, such as the minor hockey and recreation board. She was also an integral part of the family business.
The family will honour her life with a visitation at the Arn Funeral Home in Dutton on Friday October 24th, 6:00pm-9:00pm and Saturday October 25th at the St Mary’s Parish Hall at 10:00am-12:00pm and a Celebration of Life from 12:30pm-3:30pm, with a Time of Remembering at 2:00pm. Her son Jonathan will be laid to rest alongside her.
