Ronald “Ron” Mullin passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026 with family by his side, following a brief hospital stay.
Ron was a dedicated and hardworking mechanic, beginning his career at the young age of 17 and continuing with pride and commitment until his retirement at 65. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
A man of few words but quick wit, Ron was well known for his perfectly timed one-liners that could bring a smile to any room. After retirement, he took on the important role of “supervisor” of many family projects, always keeping a watchful eye and offering his quiet guidance. He also made a habit of driving by his children’s homes just to make sure everything was alright—what the family fondly called his “loser lap.”
He was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Norma Mullin, as well as his siblings Owen Mullin, Leigh Mullin, Terri Mullin, and Eric Mullin.
Ron will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 47 years, Shirley.
He will also be cherished by his children: Kim (Dave) Fazekas, Kari (Chris) Matos, and Kate (Bud) Mullin. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Danelle and Zakkary Fazekas, Dakota Kalita, and Reece and Dawson Matos, who brought him great joy.
He is survived by his siblings Elaine (Ross) Hale, Paul (Jean) Mullin, Linda Mullin, Marj Mullin, and Debbie (Bill) McCready, along with many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
Ron will be remembered for his quiet strength, his humour, and his deep love for his family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his nursing staff, especially Justina Marques who went above and beyond to ensure he was comfortable and that the family was well cared for.
A Celebration of Ron's Life will be held at the Dutton Dunwich Community Centre, 1Scotland St. Dutton, ON on Monday March 23, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. In true Ron style, casual clothes please; Ron wouldn't want it any other way.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Optimist Club of Wallacetown and the Canadian Lung Association.
