It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather and brother Rick on December 22, 2025. Richard grew up in Rodney surrounded by a neighbourhood of friends and relatives; in his younger years life was full of adventures and as he grew he transitioned into playing baseball and hockey locally, coached by his father Victor. His early adult years took him to the U.S. where he attended college and travelled extensively. Building his own log cabin in Northern Ontario, he spent nearly a decade there, living a simple life off of the land. Later returning to the Rodney /West Lorne area, he met his long-time partner Cheri Pedersen. Richard built a reputable tree trimming business over the next 30-years in Southwestern Ontario. His most passionate hobby was raising red-tick hounds. He was well known and respected in the area and will be deeply missed. Richard is survived by his two sons, Jason and Isaac, his granddaughter Becky Quipp, sister Elaine Howard-Smith, and partner Cheri Pedersen, as well as many dear cousins and his nephew. There is no memorial service being planned at this time.
