It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Peter Howard Young. He died peacefully at home on November 2, 2025 surrounded by his family, after a battle with cancer.
Peter was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick on January 10, 1940 to his parents Ludlow and Evelyn (Bowling) Young. He passed in his 86th year.
Loving husband to Mary Margaret (Cameron) who’s combined hard work, sweat and discipline built a wonderful life for their family. Peter and Mary were married on January 12th 1963.
Survived by his children David Young, Paul (Laurie) Young and Margaret (Ed) Van Puymbroeck. He was deeply loved by his grandchildren Avery, Abygale and Ayden Young, Mary (Rob), Katelyn (John) and Laura (Kostya) Van Puymbroeck, Michael, Spencer (Cass) and Matthew Bull. He was one of seven children, preceded in death by his older sister Nancy (Howard) and younger brother Steven. Survived by his sister Betty (Bob), Suzy (Norm), Chrissy, and Dorthy (Brian).
Peter was a quiet, resourceful man who was never boastful. He loved working with his hands, and the cottage he built for his loved ones created countless joyful memories for his family. He will be fondly remembered sitting at his favourite spot on the porch at the cottage on Crystal Lake. He loved his family and his wife Mary Margaret who enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world with friends in their retirement.
He had many careers in his life. Starting his career at Gulf Oil to Ontario Hydro before moving to Dutton to try his hand at farming whilst continuing to work at Ontario Hydro.
Visitors will be received at Arn Funeral Home at 193 Shackleton Line in Dutton on Friday November 7th from 2-4pm or 7-9pm. The funeral will be held again at the Arn Funeral Home on Saturday November 8th at 1:00pm. Internment to follow, visitors will be welcomed for a light luncheon at the Wallacetown Community Hall following the internment.
