Neil McCallum

April 8, 1927 ~ June 5, 2020 (age 93)


The family of Neil McCallum are sad to announce his passing on June 6th in his 94th year at his home where his ancestors settled 166 years ago.  The loved husband of Muriel (Laidlaw) McCallum for 64 years.  Father of David (Ida), Paul (Brenda), Don (Tina) and Alan. Proud grandfather of Robert (Callista), Keith (Cassandra), Michael (Kacey Wilson), Murranda and Matthew McCallum, Hanna, Sam and Tom Arno-Burgess.  Special Papa GG of Hudson, Elodie and Scotlyn.  Survived by several nieces and cousins.  Predeceased by his parents, Bert and Aleen McCallum, brothers, Don, Keith and Alex and sister Dolores.Born on April 8th, 1927 on Hogg Street, Dunwich Township.  Neil farmed with his brother Keith, then on to a 33-year career as a Municipal Property Assessor. After retiring he went back to school to study Tool and Dye. Some of his hobbies included restoring antique cream separators and farming with his boys. A 67-year member and Past Master of Prince of Wales 171 Masonic Lodge, Iona Station.  A very family and community- minded individual.  A true farmer. Private family Interment at Cowal-McBrides cemetery with a celebration of life at a later date.In memory of Neil donations may be made to the St Thomas Elgin General Hospital or the Charity of choice.  E-transfer:  or by cheque made out to charity.
