Murray Brown Obituary

Peacefully, with family by his side, Murray Frederick Brown passed away at St. Thomas Elgin
General Hospital on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the age of 85.
Murray was an entrepreneur, never afraid to try new things. Over the years, he was an Arctic Cat snowmobile dealer, a painter, a restaurant owner, an ice cream shop owner, a landlord, and even
rolled lawns — to name just a few of his ventures. But his true passion was plastering. Through his creative craft, he left his mark on countless homes and churches. Murray was always ready to
take on new challenges — and if you knew him, you knew he created a few of his own — but he never shied away from figuring out how to solve them. He loved to tinker in his shop, and one of
his most meaningful projects was rebuilding an old Chevy truck with his grandson, Morgan. Strong-willed and never one to sit still, Murray continued to push himself to stay busy right up
until the very end.
Murray loved to laugh, enjoyed a good time, and was never afraid to share his opinion, often thriving on a lively debate. With his late wife, Elaine, he loved to dance, and after her passing, he
found his voice for singing — and continued to dance.
He is survived by his daughter Coralee (Jeremy); grandsons James (Alyssa), Morgan, and Nathan; and his son, partner, and granddaughter. Also survived by his brother Ken (Bonnie);sisters-in-law Barb (late Gerald), Grace (Edward) Ford, Bonnie (Derek) McNulty, and Leslie (Wesley) Tucker; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Predeceased by his loving wife and partner of 57 years, Elaine (née Pearce); parents Allan and Irene (née McCready); brothers Gord (late Judy) and Gerald; and parents-in-law John and
Marion Pearce. The family extends heartfelt thanks to our cherished family, special friends, and neighbours who called, checked in, and spent time with Dad during his short illness. Our gratitude also to PSW Laura for her care and compassion, and to Rev. Sonja for her visits, prayers, and musical talent— along with Tracy, whose meaningful songs and shared scripture helped bring us all peace. “The song has ended, but the melody remains in our hearts.”
A funeral service will be held at Arn Funeral Home, 193 Shackleton St., Dutton (519-762-2416), on Thursday, November 6th, 2025. A graveside service will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, with a
light lunch to celebrate Murray’s life at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 221, 142 John St., West Lorne.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Murray’s memory to Knox-St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, the Daffodil Auxiliary Welfare Fund, or The War Amps.
