Milly was born in Onoway Alberta to Fredrick & Lena Carter. She left Alberta during wartime and took a job in ammunition. She met Ralph in Ottawa when he returned from overseas in 1946. They were married in June of the same year and settled in Frome. At 40 years of age Milly went to teacher's college and started her next career. She was tired of slinging hay bales. She taught for 23 years in St Thomas and the surrounding area, while raising her 3 wonderful children. She remained in her home until she was 96, often seen outside walking with her neighbour. She then moved in Bobier Villa where she was treated like royalty by the caring and thoughtful staff who continued to always go "above and beyond."
