MARY LILA ROSS
April 18, 1932 - September 8, 2024

Peacefully at Newbury hospital early Sunday morning, September 8, 2024, Mary Lila Ross (nee Cochrane) passed away at the age of 92. The family thanks the hospital doctors, nurses and social workers who cared for her these last couple of months. And to all the home health nurses throughout the years who helped Mary stay in her home.

Mary was born in Windsor Ontario, April 18, 1932, and was the last member of her family to survive.  Her parents, Peter Neville James Cochrane and Elizabeth Collard along with five brothers (Raymond, Morley (Mike), Cecil (Big Red), George (Little Red) and John (Jack)) and two sisters (Kathleen and Lillian) are all predeceased. She is also predeceased by four husbands; John Zakovich, Archie Houle, Earl Ross and Reuben Tobias; her first born who died at birth as well as her eldest son David Alan John Ross, stepson Wayne Tobias and great grandson Aiden Van Raes.

Mary is survived by her favorite baby, Miss Sadie; two daughters, Sharon Elizabeth Mary McGahan (Martin Felder) of Calgary and Laurie Jean Ross-Demaiter of Rodney and son Kevin Earl Ross of Los Angeles. Her grandchildren John, Tracy and Christina Ross; Jason and Brian McGahan; Amanda (Dylan Marter), Heather (Kyle Underwood), Bradley, Kathleen and Bruce Demaiter; great grandchildren Tayven Ross; Bryce King; Kiara and Falynn McGahan; Tyrell, Terrance, Breanna and Daniel McGahan; Dawson and Easton Marter; Benjamin, Elenor and Penelope Underwood; great-great grandson Lincoln Humphries-King; Stepson Tex Tobias (Deb) and stepdaughter Shelley Tobias-Hyslop and their families. As well as many nieces and nephews who she adored.

Mary was a longtime resident of Rodney/West Lorne area and had many friends who are mostly gone now. She was a member at one time of the Women's Auxiliary at Rodney Legion and her (Old Goats) Ladies Social group held at Rodney Town Hall.  Mary worked for many years in the local tobacco fields and at Lashbrooks' egg factory in downtown Rodney. She was a master craftsman in knitting and crocheting and won many awards at the Rodney Fairgrounds. She enjoyed her word search puzzles and daytime soap operas or her stories as she called them.

Mary will be buried alongside her parents and two sisters at Gillies cemetery 24663 Thomson Line, West Lorne.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 15th at 1:00 pm. with visitation from 12:00 pm until the time of service, at Arn Funeral Home, 202 Main St  West Lorne Ontario. Interment to follow immediately, and then  a luncheon at the funeral home for family and friends to enjoy some time together.
