Mary Hill

With great sadness we announce the passing of Dr. Mary "Margaret" (Gastle) Hill, Monday, March 12th, 2007 at Bluewater Health Mitton St. Site, Sarnia, Ontario in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Maurice Hill (1996). Dear mother of the late Maureen (1963) and husband Joe Varga, Jim and Heather (Haig), Robert and Barbara (Wheelton). Devoted grandmother to Scott Varga (Ann-Marie), Christopher and Jason Hill, Graham and Matt Hill. Great grandmother to Phil and Alyssa Varga. Special adopted grandma to Mark, Eric, Tania Varga and Jacqueline Burchmore. Sister of Marion McNab. Predeceased by brothers William Gastle, Dr. Hugh Gastle and sister Georgina Tilsworth. Beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Margaret was born on a farm near Milton Ontario, October 29th, 1913. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario Medical School in 1939, one of only 4 women in her class, Margaret specialized in anesthesia. Margaret and husband Dr. Maurice Hill practiced medicine in Montreal, Sarnia, and Guelph until her retirement in 1986. Her multifaceted career included Medical Director of Women's Benefit Insurance Company of Port Huron, Michigan for 30 years and later assisting family physician practices Grand Bend, Zurich and Stratford, Ontario. Margaret thoroughly enjoyed her retirement years at her Lake Huron property. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place 11 am May 12th, 2007 at Forest United Church. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be given to Forest United Church or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Dr. Buckton and the staff of 4th floor, Bluewater Health Mitton Street for their kindness, excellent care and compassion. Arrangements entrusted to Ronn E.
