It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marinus Jacobus Veraart on March 19,2026 at the University hospital in London.
Loving husband of almost 60 years to Alice(Sowden).
Missed dearly by his children, Peggy Duncan, Karen (late Tim) Lilley,(late)James, and Joseph(Deb).
Adoring Grandpa to Shawn, Alicia, Scott (Sarah) Duncan, Andrea, Eric (Jamie) Roodzant and Karlie Miller.
Great Grandpa to Emmett Duncan and Jacobus Roodzant.
Predeceased by his parents Franciscus and Adriana(Wouts).,as well his siblings Corri(late Tony )Vandermaarel, John(late Shirley)and a brother in law Donald Lilley.
Survived by siblings Laurens(Georgena),Frank(Faye), Bas(Jane) Kathy Lilley, Maria Anstee, Cobi(Richard)Paton.
Missed by many nieces and nephews.
Rinus was born on July 1,1943 in Holland and the family moved to Canada in April 1952.
Rinus and Alice were married April 2,1966 and bought their farm in 1969.Together they farmed and raised their 4 children. Rinus started his welding business in 1980.
He loved collecting antique engines and tractors and they went to antique farm shows all over south western Ontario making alot of new friends over the years.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the nurses and doctors in ICU at St.Thomas Elgin General Hospital and of the CCU unit at the University hospital in London.
Keeping with Rinus' wishes cremation has taken place.
There will be a Celebration of Life on April 18,2026. Rinus was a casual man, and casual attire would be very fitting.
1-4 pm at the Talbot Trails Restaurant in Eagle.
