Licinia Pessoa Marques

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Licinia Pessoa Marques, who departed from this world on July 18th, 2024, at the age of 82. Licinia was born on June 7th, 1942, in Cavaleiros, Portugal to the late Victoria and Antonio Marques. She was a resident of West Lorne, Ontario, Canada, and was a cherished wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and a beloved member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Licinia found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially her passion for gardening. Above all, she cherished her family and shared an enduring bond with her beloved marido, Antonio Figueiredo.

As a devoted Mãe, Licinia provided unwavering love and support to her filhas Elisa Ganhadeiro (Emanuel), and Maria da Luz Reis (Joâo Paulo). She took great pride in her role as Avó/ Vóvó, adoring Joâo Nuno Reis (Joana), Michael Ganhadeiro (Carol), Monica Oates-Ganhadeiro (Alan), and Rita Reis (Francisco), and reveled in the happiness brought by her bisnetos Maximus, Caleb, Emma, João Manuel, João Bernardo and her Sobrinha Nelida. Licinia will be deeply missed by her irmão Elizio Marques (Maria) whom she shared many cherished memories and bonds of sibling love.

Licinia's loving and compassionate nature made her beloved by all who knew her. Her sense of humour and kindness left a lasting mark on the lives she touched. Her faith was a guiding light, and she found solace in God.

A private ceremony was conducted to commemorate Licinia's life, bringing together family and close friends to celebrate her beautiful spirit. While Licinia's physical presence is deeply missed, the love and light she shared will always be remembered fondly by those fortunate enough to have known her. May she peacefully rest in eternity.
