Larry Owen Brokenshire

   It is with a heavy heart we announce that Larry Brokenshire  passed away October 25, 2023 at his farm at the age of 80;surrounded with his loved ones.He was born in Talbotville Ontario December 15, 1942, living there until he met the love of  his life Gerda Van Ryn. They married in 1966, moved to a farm in Dunwich Township where they planted their roots and together built their family.
Beloved husband of the late Gerda Van Ryn [2014]. Loving father of Jackie Schickluna, Jody Hillman, Russell Brokenshire [Marisa]. Cherished Pa of 7 grandchildren; Owen and Tyler Schickluna,  Brooke, Nathan and Jesse Hillman, Claire and Taylor Brokenshire.  Larry is survived by his sisters Linda Lee Yokum [John], Marion  McKinley [Doug], and several nieces and nephews.
Larry dedicated his life to his family first and then his farm. In his later years he sold pigs, rented out his land, did a few odd jobs and then ended up working along side his son Russ, which brought him great happiness. Larry found joy in watching his  grandchildren grow, his love for sports, especially hockey. He  found peace in the out doors, loving the sunshine and cutting  grass. Larry was very social. He loved people and loved to talk. He will be remembered for being a hard working, simple man; for his bright smile, his generosity and kindness and love for  laughter.
Visitation will take place Thursday November 2 at Arn Funeral  Home 193 Shackleton St Dutton [519-762-2416]   4:00 -8:00 pm where  the funeral service will be held on Friday November 3,2023  at11:00 am Interment to follow in Cowal-McBride Cemetery, and following this a time of fellowship at the Harvest Table 6460 Riverside Dr, Melbourne On.
