Kenneth Watson Obituary

It is with deep sadness that the family of Kenneth R. Watson F.I.I.C., announce his passing on February 14th, 2023 at the age of 83, while surrounded by his family.

He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ken is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gale and their two children, Tracy (Mark) and Brad (Debbie); six grandchildren, Joshua (Brandi), Rebekah (Andrew), Kenny (Bobbi-Jo), Kody (Jess), Konner and Kaleigh; six great-grandchildren, Eden, London, Brinley, Jace, Blake and Brooks.  Predeceased by his parents Jerry and Rose Watson. Survived by a sister, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ken was born February 1939 in Mimico, Ontario and was part of a large family with many aunts, uncles and cousins. In his youth, Ken was a track star in school and a proud Past President of the Gamma Sigma Fraternity.  He was a respected writer, accomplished director and reluctantly on occasion, an actor.

Dad was a skilled insurance adjuster for over four decades and after many years in the field, operated his own firm(s) for close to 20 years while working with some family and for fifteen years, his son.

He loved to spend time with family & friends or just with a good book on his "throne". Ken had a passion for little theatre where he and Gale made many lifelong friends (You all know who you are!).

Dad enjoyed the guitar being strummed by his buddy on Christmas Eve in Bramalea, playing cards or on the house boat with great friends.

Ken loved his Great Danes and other dogs over the years. He enjoyed camping with his friends and family at Earl Rowe Park, always in the same spot. A log cabin fanatic and researcher of real estate, he was proud of the custom home he designed and had constructed on 50 rolling acres. He always enjoyed hearing a great joke and could fill a room with laughter.

An Ontario boy who also loved to go west to see Tracy and her family as they travelled through the majestic Rockies.

Ken was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, enjoying Keon, Sittler, Clark, Marner & Matthews with many others and looked forward to his post game discussions with Brad or his grandsons.  Also a Blue Jays fan, he learned to love the sport after his grandson developed into a skilled player.  Ken was so proud of his beautiful granddaughters.

There will be no visitation or funeral but some pictures can be viewed and comments left at the Arn Funeral Home Dutton, Ontario site, www.arnfuneralhome.ca  .  A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Diabetes Canada, the Kidney Foundation of Canada, or your favourite charity, would be appreciated.

Ken, you are dearly missed but will live on in our thoughts and our hearts.

Forever, We Love You!
