John Thomas Gale
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Thomas Gale on December 19th, 2024, in his 79th year of life. Cherished husband and lifelong companion to Betty Gale for over 60 years. Loving father to Shannon Perkins (husband Greg), Brent Gale (wife Tanya), Kyla Gale, Brendan Gale (wife Laura) and Tyler Gale (spouse Viko). Adoring grandfather to Devon Gale, Jeremy and Ema Perkins, Michael and Madison Gale, Drew and Anna Bennett. Uncle John to Bradley Carrothers, Jeffery Valeriote, Paula Franke, Donald Lackey, Keith Gale, Heather Wiebe, Carrie O'Neill, David Langlands and Kevin Langlands.
John is survived by his beloved sister Jean Valeriote (husband Ron) and his brother Brian (wife Sharon). He is predeceased by his parents Edward and Margaret Gale and his sisters Elizabeth O'Byrne and Donna Lackey and nephew David Carrothers.
John proudly served his entire adult career as a police officer. He joined the London Police Department right out of high school and retired honorably at the rank of Inspector. Some of his closest friendships were forged within the walls of that department. It can safely be said, he will be remembered as a as a person who changed lives and cared about people.
John loved playing sports and being active. He participated on basketball teams in his youth, baseball teams as an adult, ran, swam and lifted weights. However, his true love was always golf, and the Thames Valley Golf Club was his second home.
John and Betty loved sunny vacation spots and being near the water. Consequently, upon retirement, they moved to a waterfront property on Lake St. Clair where John obtained a boat, named it Stormy (his own nickname) and began fishing. They enjoyed countless summer gatherings playing with grandchildren and spoiling their dogs Raven and Goldie with ice-cream cones from the local store.
The family would like to send a heartfelt Thank You for the love and care shown to John during his stay at Bobier Villa. There were kind people who always made sure to stop in and share a laugh, listen to music or give a hug to this special man. Your care will not be forgotten.
The family is planning a private celebration of life in the summer when all can gather. More details will be forthcoming. In the meantime, an online book of condolences is available to share your thoughts and memories. Your words will be comforting and appreciated.
