Helen Orchard passed away peacefully in her 96th year, Sunday August 13th at Bobier Villa. With family close-by she began her eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven. Beloved wife of the late James Duncan Orchard (2014). Loving mother of Ian Duncan Orchard and his wife Fides. A wonderful grandmother of Dean (Janine), Laura (Aidan) and Chelsey Orchard. A dear sister of Catherine Ford, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Clarence and Jeanetta Patterson, her late sister Marion Page and her brothers-in-law Albert Ford and Donald Page. A faithful friend of Margaret and William Bell. Born in 1928 in Cowal Ontario, Helen was a self-taught musician which began a life-long love of music. She started her music teaching career in many schools across West Elgin. In 1953 she married Jim Orchard of Southwold and moved to St. Thomas Ontario until the mid 1960s. She later moved with her husband Jim and son Duncan to the Peterborough area, where she first taught music for the Northumberland-Durham Catholic School Board. She went on to become a Teachers Consultant for the Peterborough County Board of Education. Upon retiring from teaching Helen and Jim returned to the Dutton area where they successfully operated a business together for many years.
Visitation will be held at Arn Funeral Home, 193 Shackleton St. Dutton, Ontario 519-762-2416 on Friday August 18 from 2-4 & 7-9. An Eastern Star Service, Adah Chapter 276 will be held at 6:30 in the Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at Knox-St. Andrews Presbyterian Church 162 Nancy St. Dutton, Ontario Saturday, August 19,2023, at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Shedden Cemetery, 35657 Talbot Line,Shedden Ontario. Fellowship to follow at Knox Church in Dutton after the interment.
