Harold "Butch" Smith Obituary

    Smith

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Harold LeRoy "Butch" Smith, in the very early hours of February 21,2002 in his 75th year. He will now be joined with his loving wife Pat [nee Gosnell] March 11, 2008 and his daughter Peggy Le May [Smith] December 21, 2019. He will be greatly missed by his  son Randy [Terri], daughter Leigh, son in law Jim Le May, grandson Chuck [Misty] and Great Grandson Zaden. Step grandchildren Sara [Rob] Blackett, Lorissa MacIntyre, Doug [Vicki] Lemay, Dave LeMay and step Great Grandchildren Kimberley, JJ, Alivia, Trenton, Lexi, Ryan, Matthew, Lucas, Kerislynn and Jaxen. Butch will be missed by his sister Mabel  Wainman, mother-in-law Agnes Gosnell, and his brothers and  sisters- in- law Linda [Jim] Bruce, John [Marilyn], Tom [Glenda],  Bill [Paula], Tony [Donna], Bob [Mary], George [Mary Jayne], and  several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Harold &  Betty Smith, father-in-law Walt Gosnell and his brother-in-law  Mike Gosnell.
Butch started racing snowmobiles many years ago which is what  brought on his decision to start working on other peoples  machines. He then decided to take a small engine course at  Lambton College. That love of working on small engines had him  working out of two different homes . In 2001 he and mom decided  to open a business at 161 Main St. Dutton "Butch's Small Engine  Repairs."  A couple of years after Mom passed, in 2010 he sold the business to Randy who owned and operated it until July 2019, when Leigh purchased it from Randy. Now in February 2022 it operates as Butch's Small Engines. Leigh as owner, and Randy as mechanic and an invaluable source of advice to Leigh. Grandson Chuck came  back to work as a mechanic when Leigh bought the business. This  family run business, Butch's legacy , has the hope of serving the community for many more years through Chuck and his son Zaden.  Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday February  25, 2022,  2-4 and 7-9, at Arn Funeral Home 193 Shackleton St  Dutton N0L 1J0 [519-762-2416], where the Funeral Service will be  held at 9:00 pm.
