Gregory Loos Obituary

Gregory Paul Loos exited this mortal coil on March 2, 2026, and proudly informed his family that at least now he would not have to hear any more about Donald Trump.

Greg was born in 1955 to the late Dr. P.W.J. Loos (2011) and Beatrice May (Hamilton) Loos (1986). Born in a log cabin in the woods, he spent his life appreciating nature—especially at his beloved cabin at Compass Lake.

He was predeceased by his brother Fred (2024) and is survived by his brother John. He will be missed by his nephews Ryan (Michelle) and Jason (Jenna), as well as his sister-in-law Kim and brother-in-law Brian Norwood, nephew Steven Norwood, and niece Lindsay Zienchuk.

Greg married Cathy in 1985. Their daughter Jenn (Bryan) followed in 1986, and their son Matt (Justine) in 1987.

He worked at Ford Talbotville from the early 1980s until its closure in 2011.

Greg loved the little things: time with his grandkids, kayaking, walking his dog, a campfire, a cold beer. His granddaughters, Charlotte and Christina, will forever remember adventures with Grandpa—especially time spent kayaking and exploring together. He had recently joined the Elgin ATV Club and was looking forward to many more adventures. He especially enjoyed participating in the most recent Santa Claus Parade with the club.

He will be deeply missed by his heartbroken dog, Lucy. Notable companions from years past include Skipper, Copper, Penny, Puggles… and Skipper again.

In Dad’s honour, please take a dog for a walk.

Special thanks to the staff at Strathroy Hospital, especially Nurse Carol, who kept it real and kept Dad smiling. The hard news was easier to make sense of with you in our corner. Gratitude as well to Dr. Sharman and his team, and to Dr. McLain and his team. Dad’s dignity was preserved at every step, and we cannot thank you enough.

As per Greg’s wishes, there will be no service. Instead, do something kind for a neighbour. Share a beer with a friend. Have a campfire. Fix something haphazardly—with an unreasonable amount of duct tape.

If you wish to honour Greg’s memory with a donation, please consider the West Elgin Daffodil Auxiliary.
