It is with heavy hearts that we announce Evelyn "Evie" Frances McCaffery, in her 84th year, surrounded by love at the St Thomas Elgin General Hospital Tuesday January 14, 2025. Dearly loved wife of Leo McCaffery for over 61 years. Loving mother of Mary (Allan) Barfett, Lynda McCaffery, John (Kim) McCaffery, Jamie Tina) McCaffery. Very special Grandmother of Lindsay Lamb(Matt) , Jacqueline Lamb (Chris), Andrew (Abi) Barfett, Scott (Cass) Barfett, Dan Barfett (Olivia), Laura Barfett (Quinn) JosieElliot, Tyler (Megan) Robinson, Jayden, John Junior McCaffery, Liam, Colby, Piper and Mac McCaffery. Loved by her great grandchildren Lily, Odin, Logan, Nova, Jax, William, Matthew, Aliyah, Keith, Cliff, Tayes, Summer, Mason and two soon to arrive. Lovingly remembered by her sister Mona Wilkins (predeceased Larry), Bernie(predeceased) Fran Pfiefer, Helen (Larry) Blackburn, and her brother Greg (Dorothy) Pfiefer., her sister in law Louise Small, and her brothers in-law Gary (Peg predeceased)Mc Caffery (Nancy), Larry (Bev) MCCaffery. Loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.Evie was predeceased by her parents Charles and Marie Pfiefer of West Lorne, her sister Joan (Bill) Varga, as well as by Leo's parents Tom & Marie McCaffery of Glanworth/St. Thomas. Evie loved her family. She worked along side Leo to grow the farming farm. She enjoyed spending time in her gardens tending to her lovely flowers. Evie spent many hours creating and quilting numerous beautiful quilts, that many family members received. She decorated wedding cakes for many and loved to decorate gingerbread houses with her grandchildren at Christmas time. Evie travelled to many destinations with Leo and other family members and friends. Her love for genealogy and family history resulted in her becoming the author with her book " House of Casey". Evie was a dedicated member if St Helen's Catholic Women's League for 61 years and several times held the title of President.
The family will welcome neighbours and friends on Friday January 17, 2025 at Arn Funeral Home- Dutton 193 Shackleton St Dutton, (519-762-2416) 2:00 pm -4:00 pm and 7:00 pm-9:00 pm. Prayers will be offered at 3:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St Mary's Church 128 Main St West Lorne on Saturday January 18, 2025 at 11:00 am. Interment in St Helen's Cemetery. Donations to the West Elgin Daffodil Auxiliary (Welfare or Cancer), the St Thomas Elgin General Hospital gratefully appreciated.
