Eric Poor

Eric Poor, 85, patriarch, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend to all, passed away peacefully in his home on July 1st, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born in 1935 in Wythenshaw, England, Eric came to Canada in 1952. He met the love of his life, Kathlyn (Rogers) and they were married in 1956. Together they had 4 children. Eric worked in the building supply industry after earning his Masters Degree in Business from McMaster University. He made many long-lasting work friendships during his years as a traveling salesman. He loved vintage cars, vacationing in Sauble Beach, and most of all, his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, his children; Jeff Poor (Pam), Patricia Sywyk (Tim), Katie Mazak (Randy), grandchildren; Jessica Small (Darrell), Rochelle Van Troost (Steve), Jason Ambrose (Bernadette), Lawrence Ambrose (Kailee), Dylan Sywyk (Sabrina), Kristi Dickie-Poor (Jess), Erica Poor (Pedro), Tanner Poor, Dana Chapelle (Jay), Curtis Shildrick (Amber) and Mike Shildrick, as well as eleven great grandchildren.  He is predeceased by his son; Steven Poor, daughter-in-law; Nancy Sutherland, brother; William Poor Jr., father; William Poor Sr, mother; Mary Perry (nee Ogden), step-father; Vernon Perry, and granddaughter; Kendall Sywyk. Funeral service will be held at 29183 Marsh Line, Dutton, Ontario on Sunday, July 4th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation on Eric’s behalf to the Humane Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society. Eric will always live in the hearts of his loving family. His infectious smile and compassionate nature will be greatly missed.
