Obituary

                                                                              March 13, 1939 – June 8, 2023

Suddenly on June 8, 2023, Dr. Marjorie Eileen (Jewell) Hull, wife of P. Arnold Hull, mother of Matthew Arnold Hull (Maria), Ruth Hull (Gary Williams), Grandmother of Emily Nicole Hull (Jordan Giggie), Andrew James Hull, and great-grandmother to Winnie and Bruce Giggie, and Maverick and Raiyne Assmus.

Eileen was the daughter of the late Eleanor Rose (Watson) and Ray Jewell. She was always very fond of her family, especially her sister Marilyn (Jewell) Scriven and her children, Audrey Gravestock and her family, her Auntie Mar (York) and her family, her best friend Heather York, Aunt Lillian, and Janet Gelsinger.

Eileen attended the Dutton Public SS#9 Dutton-Dunwich, Cowal, West Elgin High School, London Normal School and Teachers’ College. She received her Doctor of Philosophy – Mathematics from Western University in 1994. She was the recipient of the Angela Armitt Gold Award for having the highest marks in the Part Time and continuing Education program in 1986.

As a young woman, her devotion to the 4-H Clubs won her Provincial and County Honours, and Certificates of Achievement. This gave her the opportunity to go to Toronto and Ottawa, and sparked her life-long enjoyment of travel.

After starting her teaching career in London Ontario, she jumped at the opportunity to teach at Featherby Junior School Gillingham Kent UK for two years (which allowed travel to the Continent!), then Gillam Manitoba (with travel via Churchill where she saw polar bears!), and Fort William and Port Arthur Ontario (where she married and had her children). Back in London, she taught at Fanshawe College in the Math Learning Centre, and tutored students in math at the Western University campus.

She was involved in the work to save the Glanworth Branch Library as a valuable community resource, and donated regularly to the “A Book for Every Child” charity.

Besides 4-H Clubs, she loved of reading, playing bridge, Sudoku, Jigsaw puzzles, and travel to many parts of the world with her husband. For many years after retiring, you could find her at the local Starbucks, visiting with other “regulars” and the wonderful staff.

At her request there will be no visitation or service.
