Donald Charles Houghton

Don passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025 at Four Counties Health Services, in his 93rd year.  Don is survived and will be greatly missed, by his loving partner of over 50 years, Margaret Mills. Don was the proud father of Steven Houghton, ( predeceased in 2023) and Linda Knigge ( Bruce) and the proud grandfather of Nathan Knigge, all of South Carolina.  Don was predeceased by his parents Isaac and Phoebe ( Starks) Houghton and his brothers William and David. He will be sadly missed by family, friends and neighbours. Don was born in Aldborough Township and lived in the West Lorne area his whole life. Over the years, Don worked at the basket factory in Rodney, for many years at Erie Flooring in West Lorne and finally at Dutton Building Products. Don took pride in his work and would always take the time to teach and help his co- workers. He was always very conscious of work safety. In his younger years, Don loved to go dancing. He enjoyed his puzzle books, loved a good joke or story and had an infectious laugh.  Don was a long- time prostate cancer survivor.  In the last few years, Don faced some difficult health challenges with great strength and resilience, and with the exceptional care and love of Marg by his side. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
