Obituary of Carl Prey

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Carl Alexander Prey, born January 27,1980 in London, Ontario. Carl passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with glioblastoma on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 in Montreal, Quebec, at the age of 46.

Carl was the beloved husband of Bronwen (Moen) and cherished son of Emmy and Helmut Prey. He will forever be remembered by his siblings Inge (Wayne), Robert (Seonok), Juliet (David), brother-in-law Jesson (Denise) and sister-in-law Erin (Dominik) and as the fun, loving Uncle to several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins across Canada, The Netherlands, Germany, and France.

Raised on the family farm, Carl attended Dutton-Dunwich Public School and West Elgin Secondary School before continuing his studies at the University of Waterloo. His adventurous spirit led him across Canada and around the world, eventually guiding him to Montreal where he made his home. Here he created Carl Prey Design, a thriving fine‑woodworking and carpentry business known for craftsmanship, creativity, and heart.

Carl was endlessly curious and always in motion, whether cycling, riding his motorcycle, or exploring new corners of the world. Music was his constant companion; a guitar or harmonica was never far from reach.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Montreal at a later date.
