Wilma “Agnes” Secord Gosnell
Obituary
Wilma ‘Agnes’ (Secord) Gosnell of Dutton passed away peacefully at Bobier Villa with family by her side, Monday, July 29, 2024 at the age of 96. Born in Thamesville on December 14, 1927 to the late Wilfred and Clara (Emerson) Secord. Loving mother of Linda (Jim Bruce), John (Marilyn), Tom (Glenda), Bill (Paula), Tony (Donna), Bob (Mary) and George (Mary Jayne). Predeceased by son Michael (1975), daughter Patty Smith (2008) and son-in-law Butch Smith (2022), grandson Daniel Gosnell (2005) and a granddaughter Peggy LeMay (2019). Survived by 23 grandchildren and loved by many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Predeceased by the children’s father Walt Gosnell (1988), her siblings Jack Secord, Jean Long and Bill Secord as well as her in-laws George Gosnell, Annie Palmer, Addie Pelfry, Frank Gosnell and Glenny Anderson. Survived by Erlene Gosnell, Carson Anderson and Carol Secord.
Agnes graduated from London Normal School and taught in a one-room school house near Thamesville, then raised her children. She was a member of the Cowal Women’s Institute, leader of Cowal 4-H Clubs, member of the Dutton UCW and worked at the Bobier Convalescent Home in Dutton.
The family would like to thank the staff and friends at the Bobier Villa for the care and friendship given to mom over the past few years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the Dutton Lions Club and The Daffodil Society.
Cremation has taken place. A “Celebration of Life” will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Dutton Dunwich Community Centre from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. With words of remembrance to be held at 1:30 pm, along with refreshments and snacks. Share a memory of condolences on the Arn Funeral Home website.
