Comfortably and surrounded by his family, Douglas Malcolm Small in his 85th year passed very peacefully Friday February 15, 2019 at the St Thomas Elgin General Hospital. Douglas is survived by his loving wife of 52 yrs,Beverly [McDowell]Small. Devoted father of Brenda and Rick Myers, Kenneth and Jennifer Small. His grandchildren Mikayla[Jake Campbell],Jayden Myers, Brent, Evan, Reed and Rowan Small were the most important part of his life.Special cousin of William Whitlock.He will be missed by his cat Tommy. Survived by his sister Maxine Baldwin. Predeceased by his parents Malcolm and Jean [Campbell] Small , his brothers Donald and Melvin, sister in law Helen Small.He had many special nieces and nephews, Janna, Douglas and Martha Stirling,Robert Stirling and families, Glenn and Jane Small and families, Marion Small and family, Sharron Rollin and family. Douglas was a kind and gentle family man who lived his whole life in Dunwich Twsp where he was a proud farmer for many years with his two brothers. In earlier years he loved to curl and lawn bowl.Member of the Iona Christian Fellowship Church and Life Member of the Optimist Club of Wallacetown. Friends and family will be received at Arn Funeral Home 193 Shackleton St. Dutton [519-762-2416]Thursday February 21 2-4 & 7-9 pm where the Service will be held Friday February 22, 2019 at 11:00 am. Cremation to follow. Interment of ashes at a later date. Donations in memory of Douglas to the Iona Christian Fellowship Church, West Elgin Daffodil Auxiliary, Alzheimer's Society or St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital gratefully accepted.
