Donald Gordon Henderson passed away on July 15, 2018 at Beattie Manor, Wardsville, aged 93. Beloved Father of Nancy (Victor) West, Alex Henderson & Diana (Ron) Wilkins. Dear Grandfather of Heather West (Len Langelaan), Alex West, Matthew West, David (Lyn) Henderson, Michelle (David) Ramsay, Ian Henderson, Robert (Corinna) Wilkins, Emma Wilkins, & Steven Wilkins. Great Grandfather of Adeline Ramsay, Donovan Ramsay & Sydney Wilkins.Predeceased by his parents, Gordon Henderson (1938) and Clara (Shoemaker) Henderson (1967), his wife Betty (Cowell) Henderson (2016), his brother Ralph Henderson (2018) and granddaughter Laura West (1983). Donald was a very devoted husband and father. Growing up in the Blenheim area, Donald was a lifelong farmer. As newlyweds, he and his wife Betty moved to their forever home near Dutton in 1951. They worked with Neuhauser Poultry/Masterfeeds for over 40 years in the poultry industry. He was also a meticulous carpenter, completing beautiful renovations to their home over the years. His mechanical abilities were put to good use keeping his farm machinery and automobiles in tip top condition. In later years he restored several vintage Chrysler cars from the 1960s and 1970s and enjoyed driving them around to classic car shows in Ontario.He shared his natural curiosity, and fine sense of humour with friends and family in the form of occasional practical jokes and recounting stories of some of his adventures while growing up on a farm in rural Ontario and attending a one room school house. He was a fan of many genres of music, especially Old Time Country and fiddle music. Many thanks to the Staff of Beattie Manor for their care over the past 18 months. Relatives and friends will be received at Arn Funeral Home 193 Shackleton St, Dutton, 519-762-2416 Wednesday 6 – 9 pm where the funeral service will be held Thursday July 19, at 11:00 a.m. Interment Fairview Cemetery with lunch to follow at Largie Church. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Daffodil Society or the charity of your choice.
